Synthetic Turf International Completes Rehabilitation Center
Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Adds State of the Art Physical Fitness Facility

Old Saybrook, Connecticut

July 31, 2007, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (STI), a global synthetic turf supplier and installer of premium synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, recently completed the installation of a physical fitness and rehabilitation center at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services facility.  The project, located at 633 Middlesex Turnpike in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, was completed in conjunction with Real Estate Asset Development Company (“Readco”) of Old-Lyme, Connecticut.

The project was performed as part of a larger facility modification.  Existing office space was converted to a physical fitness and personal training area to be used for group classes and one-on-one physical rehabilitation and training.  As the existing space abuts an exterior wall, the location lends itself to incorporating the adjacent outside area as part of the new rehabilitation center.  Both areas will be used for patient rehabilitation and physical fitness training, substantially increasing the facility’s overall space and size.

The project involved the removal of the existing natural turf lawn and base preparation, both performed by Readco.  STI then installed 2,500 square feet of their SoftLawn®® Tipede synthetic turf.  SoftLawn®’s® proven shock absorbing capability and stability characteristics make it the ideal solution for the facility’s needs.  “We looked at other options, including natural grass, but decided synthetic turf would be the most logical answer,” stated Readco’s Development and Construction Project Manager Phil Biondo.  “The turf functions great and performs exactly as Lawrence & Memorial had expected.”

This was Biondo’s first experience with synthetic turf.  “I couldn’t be more pleased—with the product or STI’s staff,” Biondo stated.  “The greatest benefit is the turf is hassle-free.  It requires very little maintenance.  Given the opportunity I would definitely use Synthetic Turf International for future projects.”
