Synthetic Turf International Facilitates Lacrosse Field
Seneca Nation of Indians Revamps Athletic Complex

Salamanca, New York

August 8, 2007, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (STI), a global synthetic turf supplier and installer of premium synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, recently completed the installation of a lacrosse box for the Seneca Nation of Indians.  The project was completed and installed by STI’s Salamanca distributor, Custom Turf.

The 1,440 square foot renovation project was completed with STI’s synthetic turf product Sport Turf XP.  The installation of Sport Turf XP marks the field’s third renovation.  The two previous renovations consisted of resodding the playing field, however, the natural grass turf could not withstand the widely varying weather conditions or wear and tear imposed by constant use.  To have a competitive lacrosse program, the Seneca Nation needed to maximize the field’s playability and thus began researching alternative turf solutions.  “We needed better drainage,” stated Sharon Ray of the Seneca Nation Planning Department.  “We needed a surface that would provide our teams with sufficient time to practice and play.  Traditional grass wasn’t the answer.”  The Seneca Nation eventually contracted Iroquois Landscape Unlimited to perform the renovation.  It was by Iroquois’ suggestion that the Seneca Nation Planning Department elected to install a synthetic playing surface.

“We were pleased to be able to work with both Iroquois Landscape and Custom Turf.  They are local contractors,” stated Ray.  “Our bidding process requires us to solicit three bids for all project work and we are pleased they were the low bidders.  They are extremely professional.  We will definitely keep them in mind for future projects.”
