Synthetic Turf International Teams with PGA TOUR Superstores
Store’s Expansion Projects to Continue Throughout 2007
November 15, 2006, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (“STI”), an industry-leading supplier of premium putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, has facilitated the installation of chipping, pitching and putting greens at six PGA TOUR Superstores in the Southeastern United States. PGA TOUR Superstores are owned by parent-company Golf & Tennis Pro Shop, Inc. (GTPS) and are part of the company’s ongoing long-term, multi-million dollar expansion project. The projects were completed in conjunction with STI distributor, Synthetic Turf International of Atlanta (“STI of Atlanta”).
The PGA TOUR Superstore franchise was launched in 2004 with two stores in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Since that time additional stores have opened in the Atlanta suburbs of Roswell, Kennesaw, Duluth and Buckhead. STI of Atlanta has installed putting greens, short game greens and chipping areas complete with bunkers in each of these stores. Additionally, stores in Duluth and Buckhead have incorporated putter fitting and training green areas into the store layouts.
The putting greens and putter fitting and training green areas are constructed of STI’s exclusive nylon NP50® turf. Designed to match a natural putting green’s roll of 10 or 11 on the Stimp meter, STI’s synthetic putting surface allows players to develop their touch and technique through true roll characteristics found in professional greens. The short-game greens are constructed with STI’s TP100 turf and range in size from 2,000 to 2,500 square feet. STI’s resilient TP100 turf provides the ideal setting for students to practice their short-game while its multi-directional blades provide a life-like appearance. To complete the interactive experience, lawn areas were created within the stores by utilizing STI’s distinctive, natural looking SoftLawn® synthetic turf solution. Patio surfaces, flower boxes, stone walls and benches are also incorporated into the projects.
Commenting on the projects STI President William Campbell states, “We are excited to be involved with PGA TOUR Superstores. They are experiencing exponential growth and have big plans for future expansion into the south and southwest. PGA TOUR Superstores’ customer demographic mirrors our customer demographic. We both cater to professional golfers, amateurs and families alike. Our synthetic surfaces provide the perfect vehicle for golfers to experiment with the latest up to the minute golf technology.”
Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Jupiter, Florida, STI is the industry leader, supplying synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces to country clubs, public and private golf clubs, teaching facilities and short game academies. Serving as testament to the company’s quality synthetic surface is its longstanding endorsement relationships with David Leadbetter and Jim McLean, two of the golf industry’s best known and most sought after instructors. STI also supplies synthetic surfaces for other sports, such as football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, lawn bowling, bocce and other sports utilizing play fields.
