STI Featured Application: A Beautiful Putting Green on the Shores of Lake Charlevoix in Northern Michigan

This week’s Featured Application comes to us from Larry Clontz  with Progreens & Turf, based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  The homeowner offered Larry and his crew a unique challenge back in late August, which was to deliver a putting green in less than a week more than 300 miles away from home base.

Larry has been a dealer for Synthetic Turf International for almost 20 years, and has been servicing the Midwest in a variety of applications, including sports fields.

The Progreens crew set out removing almost 30 tons of natural soil and sod to make way for the 1700 square feet putting green.  They had to bring in over 65 tons of stone to build the base for the green.

The green sits about 65 yards away from the house, where several EZTee hitting mats are on the patio.

The putting surface is NP 50, our top-of-the-line putting product.  The way that Larry and his team designed the green, each undulation provides players with a different type of putt.  They wrapped the green with SoftLawn Bermuda Blend.  A medium pile product, SoftLawn Bermuda Blend is designed for residential and commercial playground applications.

Larry and his team were able to complete the project ahead of their Labor Day weekend deadline.  We’re happy to report that the client is very happy with the green.  They say that they are looking forward to their next (warm weather) party.
