This week’s featured application comes from Keith Thykeson (PGA) with Pioneer Synthetic Turf in Thousand Oaks, California. Pioneer installed a synthetic baseball project at Thousand Oaks High School.

The project was spearheaded by Jack Wilson, a former Major League All Star who spent 12 season as a player with the Pirates, Mariners and Braves.

Pioneer installed a synthetic turf baseball application in his back yard around 10 years ago and the turf is still holding up great.

Jack Wilson has been retired from professional baseball for a few years and recently he was hired as the Head Coach for Thousand Oaks High School Baseball in Thousand Oaks, CA.

It was quickly discovered that the varsity baseball field needed some major improvements and Jack was able to raise the money to complete phase 1, which is featured in the accompanying photos.  Phase 2 will replace the clay dirt you see with the same Clay synthetic turf Pioneer installed.
