Featured Application: Synthetic Turf Plays a Pivotal Role at the Mack and Jonnie Day Golf Practice Facility at the Univerity of Tennessee, Courtesy of PLAYRITE
This week’s Featured Application comes to us from our friends with PLAYRITE in Knoxville, Tennessee. They recently completed this stunning golf practice facility, just south of the University of Tennessee campus.
The Mack and Jonnie Day Golf Practice Facility is part of the brand new Blackburn-Furrow Clubhouse, along the banks of the Tennessee River in Knoxville. The project, which has been several years in the making is state-of-the-art. The PLAYRITE team designed and installed a 1500 square feet of EZTee® Hybrid Plus as part of the outdoor practice tee line. They also installed an indoor tee line, using the EZTee® Hybrid Plus.
The team used 1,000 square feet of Pro Ball Turf for part of the facility’s indoor flooring. Jesse Smithey, Business Development for PLAYRITE, worked very closely with Brennan Webb, the UT Men’s Golf Coach. Smithey and Webb tailored the turf choices to meet the needs of the UT golfers, while providing an aesthetic look.
The facility also features a three hole practice course, using natural grass. There is also an 11,000 square feet natural practice putting green, and a 10,600 square feet chipping and pitching green.
“We were very excited and honored to work alongside the UT Golf programs on this project,” said Jesse Smithey. He added, “indoors or outdoors, the Vols will be able to keep their games sharp all year, thanks to STI!”
