One of Synthetic Turf International’s greatest strengths is that we manufacture our turf, allowing for the highest levels of quality from production through installation while generating a significantly positive impact on the environment.
Over the past few years, our research has pioneered environmentally sound, responsible turf that saves resources for the length of its life. We have received ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications in light of our continued commitment and strong focus on quality, environmental stewardship and safety. We are proud to receive these certifications in our efforts as a manufacturer to help create a greener world in places where natural grass can’t easily grow or be maintained.
As part of this initiative, STI has made significant gains in sustainability initiatives through recycling and waste reduction practices. Major accomplishments over the past year included:
Recycling 155,221 pounds of material in 2012 consisting of cardboard, wood pallets, raw materials (yarn and primary backing), finished goods, plastics, paper and more. The company uses over 99% of all raw materials, and all remaining raw materials are recycled.
100% of our finished goods/products are recyclable.
Achieving a reduction in waste in excess of 75% from when first engaging in the ISO certifications.
STI also helps customers conserve water through the use of our products. The Southern Nevada Water Authority estimates that every square foot of natural grass replaced saves 55 gallons of water per year. If an average lawn is 1,800 square feet, then a homeowner with synthetic turf could save 99,000 gallons of water while shaving hundreds of dollars off of their water bill.
